Windcatchers, architectural masterpiece in Qom

Windcatcher is a traditional structure being built on homes’ roofs in order to allow air to circulate and cool down the building.

Windcatchers are considered as one of the architectural masterpieces of Iran. Windcatchers are popular in desert areas.

The windcatchers can still be seen in the old neighborhoods of the holy city of Qom in central part of Iran.
